Cause
The Victoria Community Food Hub Society is a registered charity working to build a healthy, sustainable, and equitable food system on Southern Vancouver Island. Through the South Island FarmHub, we deliver fresh, local food from farmers and food makers to households, community organizations, and schools.
Our Farmbucks program helps bridge the gap between abundance and access. By subsidizing local food from our online farmers market, Farmbucks makes it possible for schools and charities to provide nutritious meals and food hampers to people who need it most, especially as rising living costs push more people to rely on community food programs.
In 2024, Farmbucks delivered over $100,000 worth of fresh food to 18 charity and school programs, helping nourish more than 15,000 people. It’s a triple-win: improving food access, supporting local farms, and fighting hunger - by closing the loop between local abundance and community need.
